HMC Works to Ensure Your Qurbani / Udhiyyah is Halal
Alhamdulillah through the grace of the Almighty, HMC continues to help the Muslim community to procure and consume Halal with confidence.
As the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha arrives, and the Qurbani orders are received by butchers countrywide, HMC has been working hard in the background to ensure that the Qurbani is completed according to the rules of Shari’ah.
This is extremely important as there have been many incidents that HMC has become aware of in the past couple of years where the Qurbani has not been done properly

- 19th June 2009 - 1st HMC certified school in UK
Alhamdulillah, through the grace of The Almighty, we are pleased to announce the very first school in the UK to be HMC certified. See details below:
Tauheed-ul-Islam Girls High School & Sixth Form College
31 Bicknell Street, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB1 7EY
Tel: 01254 540 21
For the past two years HMC has been working in partnership with Lancashire Council of Mosques to certify Halal school meals. Assistant Principal Moulana Munir said in a statement: "Despite being a Muslim school it was of paramount importance for us to be certified by an independent non-profit making organisation like HMC. The fraudulent nature of the market means doubtful products are entering into every sector of the Halal market and we realised the education sector is no different. We would strongly advise all schools to follow suit."
NOTE - a new listing page for schools is presently under construction with our IT department and will be uploaded shortly.

- 27th February 2009 - France: Important Newsflash for French HMC customers
Alhamdulillah HMC is extremely pleased with the successful uptake of its halal products in France.
However, please be aware, the HMC system works from the slaughterhouse to the butchers/takeaways. The HMC system includes HMC staff visiting the shops to check and verify the products in the outlets to avoid exploitation of the HMC label.
HMC has never committed to monitor French shops and unfortunately does not have the capacity. We understand that many genuine HMC products are entering the French market but HMC cannot guarantee that any product labelled HMC is genuine or not as it does not have staff on the ground in France. Please be careful when buying HMC products and only buy from genuine sources who you trust 100%.

- 9th December 2008 – Statement Issued Ref: Eid Day Qurbani
Beware! False claims of Qurbani again!
It is with sadness we report that a small number of Butchers in the north of England have sold meat from previous night and claimed it to be Qurbani*. HMC has devised a special tagging system for Qurbani day enabling it to quickly identify Qurbani Meat. As a consequence this issue has come to light and the false claims being made have been identified. There is some confusion as butchers and slaughter houses are making counter claims and the matter is under investigation with the parties concerned. For HMC Qurbani production all meat will carry a red HMC logo. HMC continues its fight for true Halal, may Allah protect us all from deceit and keep us on the path of truth, Ameen
Remember for your assurance; ask to see the red HMC stamp before the meat is cut! Demand a replacement within the three days of Qurbani if not! [*The animal must be slaughtered after Eid Salah for it to be considered as ‘Qurbani / Udhiyyah’].

HMC Response to Recent Allegations Circulating on the Net.
HMC has a policy not to respond to emails or allegations sent anonymously or distributed over the net for the purposes of discrediting HMC. Where genuine concerns exist we would be delighted to meet with and review specific comments and concerns so that we investigate and take appropriate actions if necessary. Our Offices and communications office is open during normal business hours Monday to Friday.
HMC is committed to one concern, to provide assurance that consumers have a choice to eat genuine Halal and not because it is claimed to be Halal. Since inception in 2003 HMC has demonstrated its ability in overseeing the slaughter and associated processes and further ensuring that the product arriving at its final destination is intact.
Five years on, HMC is an established and recognized organization that has no motive other than to establish authentic Halal products and in so doing secure the future of our communities and children.
Transparency is key to HMC and it has widely announced that individuals, groups or Organisation are welcome to witness any of its operations and to satisfy any concern. To date, several organizations have done this and satisfied themselves and subsequently become advocates and supporters.

- 9th October 2008 - How Important is Halal to You?
“Less than 379 days to save Halal”
HMC is currently gathering support from Muslim Institutions, Masajid, Imams, Scholars and General Public in support of our commonly held belief and definition of what we all consider to be Halal and ultimately to protect Islam.
The term Halal has become a widely misused word and now we are in danger of letting the Law define Halal that is not in agreement with the majority.

- 15 September 2004 - Update
Some non-certified outlets are aiming to deceive their customers by putting on display HMC tapes, tags, letters etc. to falsely create the impression that all products in the shop are certified and monitored by HMC. This is clear deceit and HMC absolves itself of any involvement with retailers not displaying our certificate. The customers are reminded that they must look out for HMC certificates on display for their assurance of HMC certified products.
